How It Went Down: Mexico Event

Written by Dylan McClain Yes, by all means, let's do an event showcasing our new lots from Mexico.  Yes, yes, let's make it a party.  Yes, fine, let's make it a challenge as well.  That's nothing new.  It's what we do.   We channel creative energy. Good thing we work with coffee, or else we might run out of things to do. So we started with a blank canvas and a palette of four coffees.  Free association had us building drinks with apple cider, marionberry jam, cactus, aguas frescas.  No bad ideas at this stage of the project.  Hell yes it was fun.  A world of options.  Crazy situations started to seem logical.  We could wheel in the GS3 and make...

Taste the Best of México

Written by Liza Powers This past spring I went on an origin trip to México . It was my first ever opportunity to source coffees for Case Study Coffee Roasters. More than anything else, this origin trip was another experience in which my perceptions of coffee were changed. While ECOM deals in coffee, cotton, and cocoa worldwide, in México, AMSA focuses specifically on coffee. Since 1979 AMSA has been involved in the coffee industry, and to this day it works with both arabica and robusta coffees. The AMSA team...

Espresso Catering

Written by Wes Russell     Why Catering? When Christine and I started espresso catering back in 2006, there were a few great coffee shops in portland, but not many people were getting out and discovering these amazing coffee experiences in their own backyard. Christine and I thought we would up the Portland coffee ante and create a mobile service that would provide an amazing coffee experience for anyone in Portland, at their location. We bought the absolute best equipment, often the same exact gear the top shops were using and hit the road. With our newly built stainless and teak carts, we set out to bring coffee to events at Nike, Flir, Precision Castparts, The Art Institute and many...

Summer Specials

Summer Specials // Photo by Rachel Emery Here we are in what feels like the middle of summer though we are technically only a few weeks in. We’re trying to keep cool by sipping on cold beverages and playing in the river. Each of our summer specials are iced, well, because summer.  Cascara Soda // Photo by Liza Powers Cascara Soda After trying the Cascara Soda next to a Cascara iced tea, we decided to stick with the Cascara Soda we had as part of the Spring Specials. Like so many of you, we have fallen in love with how delicious and refreshing it is: the perfect afternoon drink.
